Dear Parents, Staff and Students,

This week we commence by expressing a HUGE THANK YOU to Lee Carter, Mick Betson, Adam Davis, Larry Davis, Paul and Selina Mascoll and Yul Scott, our fantastic crew of volunteers who did such an impressive job painting our gym at last Friday’s Painting Bee.  There will be a short, follow up Painting Bee tomorrow afternoon to complete the job with a second coat. If you are able to assist please contact the office tomorrow.

Last night a group of 20 parents attended our English Online Interview which our year Prep to 2 students are participating in.  We trust that the evening provided useful information regarding this assessment which has been introduced by the DEECD this year.

We would also like to thank Marc Taylor and his family who this week kindly donated a telescope to the school.  We look forward to Marc training us on its capabilities and then seeing it being used in classrooms. Thank you!

Last week we acknowledged the wonderful performance of our students in the University of New South Wales English Competition.  Our congratulations are also extended to Elizabeth Murdoch who achieved a Distinction for her efforts. Well done Elizabeth!

At our final assembly of 2008 ‘The Louise Trollope Award’ was awarded to Ashleigh Coates. This award is presented annually to an inspirational year 5 student. Ashleigh’s name was inscribed on our perpetual shield which is displayed at the office. It was also decided that we would introduce a replica shield which the winning student would be able to keep. Our replica shield has finally arrived and will be presented to Ashleigh tomorrow afternoon.

Kiralee Collings is the recipient of this week’s Principal’s Award for her amazing efforts in writing where she is making great use of our THRASS charts to record her thoughts. Fantastic work Kiralee!

We are happy to welcome three new students and their families to our school and hope they enjoy being part of our Kismet Park learning community. We wish Jamie Dunne 1/2G, Hayley Sandlant 1/2Z and Joshua Sandlant 5/6S all the best in their future learning.

Congratulations to Callum Cooke on being awarded an incentive prize for participating in the online voting of the Australian Museum Eureka Prizes People’s Choice Award. The Australian Museum Eureka Prizes are Australia’s premier national science awards program, rewarding excellence in the fields of research & Innovation, science leadership, school science and science journalism & communication. As part of a lesson in the computer lab last term, 3/4C students accessed the online site to learn more about scientists and their vital work.  After perusing each prize winner’s contribution to Australia’s scientific advancements, some of our students made an online vote for the People’s Choice Award with this year’s recipient being Dr. Katherine Belov for her work with the Tasmanian Devil.  Callum was fortunate enough to have been selected to receive one of the incentive prizes and we look forward to making the presentation to him at tomorrow’s assembly.

Have a great term!

Regards, Glenn & Diane

Also I have added a kids page it is rather small at the moment but new stuff will be added as time goes on. Like anything on the web these days it is a growing project and will get better.  Feel free to leave me a comment.

Outstanding items on my to do list are:
Year 5/6 ‘home page’

  • Term Newsletter
  • Important dates
  • List of staff
  • Grades 56A   56W  56G  56C  56S

Enrolment Information

  • Introductory information
  • Forms
  • Prep information Pack
  • Readiness for school information

Policies

Pictures

Canteen menu

Fix the menu bar as it is not behaving correctly at the moment also make it look more integrated in to the website. At the moment it looks rather like an odd add-on.

As you can see the list is long but little by little it will get updated so stay posted.

Thank you.
