Dear Parents, Staff and Students,

Congratulations to Ashleigh Coates who is the Kismet Park Primary School recipient of  the Sunbury Conservation Society’s 4th Annual 2009 Junior Environmental Care Award. These awards recognize students who are able to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of environmental issues. Well done to all of our students who participated in this competition. Ashleigh and her class, 5/6C will be attending a presentation ceremony during River Health Activity Day on Friday 6th November 2009. Thank you to Arnie Azaris along with the Sunbury Conservation Society and their sponsors for their support of this program in our schools over the past 6 years.

A HUGE THANK YOU once again to Mick Betson, Adam Davis, Hayden Davis, Paul and Selina Mascoll who did such a great job completing the painting of our gym last Friday.  Thank you also to Paint Spot in Sunbury for their generosity in keeping costs to a minimum.

Our Prep students have had a wonderful week of swimming lessons where they demonstrated their capacity to organise themselves, show independence and develop vital water safety skills at the Sunbury Aquatic Centre. The students’ preparedness for this swimming program was evident by the manner in which they attempted new skills with confidence and a positive have-a-go attitude. Thank you to our wonderful band of parents who assisted and supported students during this program.

Members of our band, Gr 3/4B, Prep M & Z are currently busy preparing for next Friday’s (November 6th) Music Festival which will held in our school gym. Throughout the day audiences will be entertained by students from schools across Sunbury, with Kismet Park performing at 10:40. We hope you can get along to be part of the action. Good luck to all involved!

Finally, it has been great to see our House Competition up and running. In the past week we have seen Clarke and Hogan Houses getting together at lunch times to show pride in their playground environment by organising cleanup activities. Presently Hogan is in the lead with 688 points.

Regards, Glenn & Diane
